I grew up continually helping on house projects. This background eventually helped convince me to apply to the Port Townsend School of Woodworking. I was originally slated to start class in the winter of 2018 but had to delay due to some economic hardships and started in the fall instead. I am grateful for the support from instructors and scholarship foundations that made this schooling possible. I look forward to having this base of woodworking in the future.
Key Takeaways:
- Growing up, my father was always doing projects around the house, including remodeling the garage and tiling the bathroom.
- I ended up graduating from college with a degree in civil engineering, which is also when my interest in woodworking began.
- I eventually went to The Port Townsend School of Woodworking, which provided me with a foundation in my new craft.
“The historical context of woodworking, the skills-based learning environment, the community and support of peers and instructors have all been well worth the wait.”
