Before the storage shelves with a work station, the garage was quite a headache. It was totes upon totes on top of each other in the garage so you had to work extra hard to find something. It was a headache to get anything done because there was no where to do any odd jobs in the garage. We built a shelving unit that we can stack totes on as well as other items, and it is complete with a work station for fixing things or other small jobs.
Key Takeaways:
- We built the unit using readily accessible materials and limited tools for around $150.
- The first steps are to cut sixteen 2x4s and three sheets of OSB.
- Pegboard and a closet rod each have to be cut to fit, then installed.
“One of the units that we wanted to build was a multi-purpose unit. It needed to have standard tote storage, coat hanging space, and a large work surface for random odd jobs like wrapping presents or fixing household items.”
